GIMP Manual 2.8.1 The new version contains new translations (Brazilian Portuguese, Danish, Catalan), improvements (for instance, a language menu in the online version and a Bugzilla “report errors” link on every page) and many bug fixes. The GIMP Manual is available.
Over 4 years ago Thanks for clarifying that the 2.10 is a development version. After reading the explanation about the numbering sequences I also don't understand why it is given this number if it is a development version. I still am unable to find the way to download the latest stable version without an add-on toolbar and other nonsense that I don't want and don't want to risk dealing with.
Can somebody tell me if there is another download place???? I went to Gimp.org and found that was just as confusing to find what I am looking for.

Finally, here they are. The GIMP 2.8 User manual packages have been build and are online for downloading.
Currently there are four languages available. English, german, french and spanish. More languages will follow in the next few weeks, so stay tuned.
The installers will work with the GIMP 2.8 packages. One major enhancement over the previous 2.6 user manual is, that now the user manual is accessible to all user accounts on the system. There‘s no need to install it for every user individually. So go over to the and select your prefered language package.
